Chapter Goals & Objectives

BIG-LOC has and continues to have a significant presence in various aspects of employee life at the Library of Congress as well as the surrounding community.  The organization’s ongoing commitments centrally involve an employee career-based service that involves:

  • Mentoring
  • Training
  • Professional development
  • Educational assistance

These programs are held during the work day and at lunch hour so a light lunch is provided at no cost to attendees.  In addition, other BIG-LOC undertakings have involved expanding employee cultural awareness of African-American arts, helping to boost employee awareness of various potential solutions to personal health concerns, and community outreach aimed at providing some comfort to a disadvantaged local family.
